DR. WILLIAM E. RICE William (Willy) Rice is the pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, Florida. In 2004 he returned to the Tampa Bay area where he was born and raised to lead the church he considered his home church. Dr. Rice served as President of the Florida Baptist Convention from 2006-2008. He is the author of two books, Discover Dynamic Life and Before You Go: What Every Parent Needs to Say and Every Kid Needs to Hear. Before coming to Calvary Dr. Rice pastored the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Pensacola for seven years. Prior to pastoring Hillcrest Dr. Rice had pastored the Gladeview Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama, the Cypress Lake Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida and the Bethel Baptist Church in Dora, Alabama. Dr. Rice is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama with a B.A. degree and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree and a Doctor of Ministry degree. He is married to Cheryl who is also a graduate of Samford University and they have three children and one grandchild.
PASTOR LARRY BURD
Larry Burd is a graduate of Houghton College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Over the past 43 years he has pastored churches in Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania. After being the Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Easton, Pennsylvania for the past 33 years he is now Pastor Emeritus of Calvary. For the past 12 years he has been the host of the Living Truth TV program broadcast in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. As a pastor, evangelist and revivalist he has ministered in many countries on six continents. Larry lives with his wife, Sharon, in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. They are the parents of four married children and nine grandchildren. Larry enjoys hunting, fishing and gardening. He has recently published a book, The Invisible Hand of God at Work.
DR. JOHN SODEN
Currently Dr. Soden is a professor in the Bible and Theology Department of Lancaster Bible College specializing in Old Testament studies. He has held this position since 1998. He has taught on both the undergrad and graduate levels in all of the Old Testament as well as hermeneutics and some pastoral ministries. Previously he was pastor of Arriola Bible Church near Cortez, Colorado for over 9 years. He received his B.S. from Biola University; and Th.M. and Ph.D. degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary emphasizing Semitics and OT studies. He grew up in Oregon in a pastor’s family and has been interested in some sort of full time service to Christ since he was a teenager. After the doctoral program, the Lord provided a great place to grow and learn in ministry in Colorado. The pastorate was a wonderful experience but very difficult to leave, but teaching has always been a passion and a pleasure. He is married to Janet and they have three grown children.
